Ex-BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN Fired From M3
April 20, 2004Former BLACK SABBATH frontman Tony Martin has been fired from M3, the "classic WHITESNAKE" tribute group featuring Bernie Marsden (guitar, ex-WHITESNAKE),Micky Moody (guitar, ex-WHITESNAKE),Neil Murray (ex-WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH),Jimmy Copley (drums, ex-PAUL RODGERS, GILLAN, BECK),and Mark Stanway (keyboards, ex-MAGNUM). An official statement from Tony on the matter is expected soon.
In other news, Tony will sing on the new PHENOMENA album which will be released later this year. So far he has recorded three songs, but the final track list is yet to be decided on, according to a posting on his official web site.
As previously reported, Martin will be one of three featured singers at an upcoming show about rock music of the '70s and '80s. Dubbed "A Whole Lotta Metal", the show will hit the road in the U.K. in May for a minimum of 25 dates and will feature music from such bands as SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN and JUDAS PRIEST. Tony will reportedly be singing at various points during the performance and will be tackling such classics as "Headless Cross" (SABBATH),"Breakin' The Law" (PRIEST),"Fool For Your Lovin'" (WHITESNAKE),"Stormbringer" (DEEP PURPLE) and "Paranoid" (SABBATH).
